High strength, high-modulus glass fibres within the nylon composite provide dramatic strength, stiffness, toughness and dimensional stability. These properties allow a significant weight reduction over metallic fittings. TruDesign Skin Fittings with Tails eliminate the corrosion and electrical bonding problems associated with metallic fittings. Certified to ISO 9093-2 by the International Marine Certification Institute, Belgium (not including 1/2”) and type Approved by Bureau Veritas to ISO 9093-2 (not including 1/2”). All Skin Fittings are supplied with a nylon washer to increase locknut support on the hull. The Tru-Design Skin Fittings with Tail are suitable for installation in all types of hull construction; steel, aluminium, fibreglass - cored and solid, wooden sandwich.

Tru-Design Skin Fittings with Tail are also able to be used on caulked solid wood hulls – care should be taken to only locate the skin fitting in the centre of any individual plank.

• Can I fit a Skin Fitting with Tail below the waterline?
  NO All Skin Fittings fitted below the waterline must be threaded and connected directly to a Ball Valve to enable shut off in event of an emergency. Additionally, 2 stainless steel hose clips should be used on every tail fitting and periodically checked for tightness as they may loosen off as the hose ages.
